Never pretend you know something that you actually do not. It is never a good idea to lie.

If you do not know the answer to a particular question, smile and accept. You were never required to know everything in this world.

Answer with confidence to whatever you know. Your answer must be precise and to the point. Do not spin long stories.

Do not hem and haw about your abilities. If you know you are capable of something you should be able to state it. Evaluating yourself truthfully means you can evaluate situations correctly too.

Stress on your strong points. After all that is why that guy is going to hire you.

Be relaxed and cheerful. Respond to questions with a smile. Be in control. Nervousness is often interpreted as not being able to handle situations.

Be comfortable. Wear comfortable clothes, which do not necessarily have to be flashy. The stress should be on looking smart. And you look smart when you are confident of what you are wearing.

Do a little homework before. Know what the company you are approaching is all about. That would show that you are interested. Take all your necessary papers with you. Work a little bit on how you present those papers. Get a proper folder for them. For architects and designers, a good-looking portfolio sure goes a long way to help in clinching matters.
