UNESCO Web prize 2000
- UNESCO Type: Open Registration deadline: June 1, 2000 Submission deadline: July 1, 2000 Open to: All Entry fee: None Awards: US $10,000 Jury: Total Unknown The UNESCO Web Prize competition promotes the creation of websites as innovative and artistic reflections of the information society. Web designers and artists participating in the competition should interpret UNESCO's values and areas of competence by using multimedia applications to their fullest potential. Each participant may create one website in one of the two categories: Category I: Free Theme Artists and designers are invited to artistically interpret subjects within UNESCO's main areas of competence such as : co-operation in education, science, culture, and communication, possibly related to UNESCO's priority groups (women, young people and the least developed countries) and multi-culturalism. Category II: Peace In the spirit of the International Year for the Culture of Peace, proclaimed by the UN General Assembly for the Year 2000, artists and designers are invited to artistically interpret the theme "Peace". The submitted websites should be an artistic expression of UNESCO's mandate to use education, science, culture and communication to "construct the defences of peace in the minds of men". The following words could inspire the creation of websites for this category : Justice, Non-violence, Liberty, Human Rights, Respect for Cultural Diversity, Tolerance, Solidarity, Development, Promotion of Democracy, Reconciliation.
